     James Hammond was born on 12 May 1865 at St. George, South Dumfries Twp, Brant County, Ontario.1 He was the son of John Hammond and Susannah Hall.1 He married Lucy Tierney on 8 January 1906 at Niagara Falls, Welland County, Ontario. (notes: Marriage reg. 019862-06 City of Niagara Falls, Welland Co. James Hammond, 38, bachelor, fireman, born St. George, Ontario, residing Rochester, New York. Methodist. Parents John Hammond and Susan Hall. Lucy Tierney, 32, widow, born Buffalo, New York, residing Rochester, New York. Methodist. Parents Frederick Meyer and Kate Rode. Witnesses Fannie S. Houston and Rachel Conron, both of Niagara Falls, Ontario. Clergyman Very Rev. Dean Houston. On January 8, 1906.).1 He died on 28 September 1908 at age 43.1 He was buried at Buffalo, New York.1 James name and date of death are inscribed on the family stone in St. George Cemetery. His age is given as well, 43 years, 4 mos., 16 dys. His date of birth is calculated from this. The stone says that he was interred in Buffalo, N.Y., but we do not know the name of the cemetery. It is believed that he died in Buffalo.1
