BirthEliza Sophia Skoyles was born in 1854 at Mile End, Middlesex, England.
MarriageShe married Frederick Henry Dennis on 10 February 1875 at Cooksville, Toronto Twp., Peel Co; Marriage reg. 007263-75 Toronto Twp., Peel Co. Frederic Henry Denis, 20, bachelor, knitter, residing Springfield, born United States. Parents Samuel and Charlotte Denis. Elizabeth Sophia Skoyles, 20, spinster, residing Springfield, born England. Parents John and Sophia Skoyles. Witnesses Edwin Turner, Springfield, and Edway Waterhouse, Cooksville. On 10 February, 1875, at Cooksville. The bride and groom were Episcopalian. The clergyman was Andrew Cunningham.
NoteEliza, her husband, three children (George, Gertrude and Frederick) are in Caledonia, Haldimand County, at the time of the 1881 census. In 1891, they are in Galt. By 1900, they are in Newton City, Middlesex County, Massachessetts, and present there as well in 1910. These censuses state that the family came to the U.S. in 1891 and the list of living children in these two censuses agree. Apparently only the last child listed, Viola M., was born in Massachussetts. The rest were born in Canada. The census of 1900 at Newton, Mass. states that she bore seven children and that there are seven of them living. There are seven children present in both 1900 and 1910. This, however, does not account for John, for whom we have a clear birth record as being born in Galt in 1901. It appears that Eliza, or Elizabeth, bore eight children.

In 1920, Frederick and Eliza are still in Newton, Massachessetts. With them are sons George and Frederick Jr., and daughter Viola.

They have not yet been found in the 1930 U.S. census.
