David Randall was born on 5 May 1845.1 He was the son of Thomas Randall and Rosina Thomas.1 David Randall was living and working with sister Sarah and her husband Jacob Frey at the time of the 1881 census taken in Normanby Twp., in Grey County. He is shown as single. A David Randall, age 70, died at Desboro in Sullivan Twp. in Grey County on July 10, 1911. His birth years is given as 1841. The informant was a William Yager of Desboro. Again, David is shown as single. Yager reported David's parents as born in England, but did not know their names. He also reported David as being born in England, but the 1851 census at Woolwich Twp. shows David as being born in Ontario. Likely, the David Randall who died at Desboro in 1911 is the son of Thomas and Rosina.

David's birthdate as shown in the 1901 census taken in Normanby Twp. is 5 May, 1845, and is so shown here. This may show him one year younger than he was. He apparently works on the farm of John Drimmert.

The 1911 census shows a David Randall, age 71, residing as a lodger in the home of Louis Kaufman, at west 3/4 of lot 12 on the 9th Concession of Sullivan Twp. This is likely the same David Randall who died at Desboro on July 10th of the same year. This census seems to indicate that he was born in England and came to Canada in 1843. It's possible that he was another David Randall, but it seems unlikely. This is being researched.

A David Randall, 18, is in Woolwich on page 36 of the 1861 census. He is likely the son of Thomas. The interesting thing is that he is in the household of Charles Thomas, farmer, born England, and his wife Mary. Thomas is 45. It is possible that he is David's uncle, since David's mother was a Thomas.1
