ID # 1172, (1795-1837)
|Birth||Alicia Napier was born in 1795 at Clonmel, Ireland.|
|Marriage||She married John Husband, son of George Husband and Elizabeth White.|
Source: The transcription of Henry Husband's diary states:
I can give no particulars of my parents marriage in 1810.
'In 1810' appears to be an interpolation by the transcriber, perhaps from the family bible. This does not appear in Henry's diary, the image of which is available online. Henry simply says: I can give no particulars of my parents marriage.
He goes on to stay that the first three children of John and Alicia were born in Ireland. It seems reasonable to guess that they were married in Ireland, but we have no direct evidence of this.
|Death||She died in 1837.|
|Note||In Henry's diary he notes that his mother is buried in St. James Cemetery (where not stated) and that her gravestone is plain with her name, shown as Alice Napier, inscribed in a curved manner. He goes on to say that her name was properly Alicia and that he wishes the names of his parents with their years of birth and death to appear on his gravestone.|
It may be that Henry had a slip of the pen on this one. Find-a-Grave shows for St. John's Anglican Cemetery, Campbellville, Halton Regional Municipality, a transcription (no photos) of the names Alicia Husband and John Husband. This one needs a bit more investigation.
Henry's diary has another slip of the pen. In it, he draws how he wishes his parents' stones to appear (or already appear?). In this drawing, he shows his mother's death year as 1873 instead of 1837. Based on what Henry has to say of losing his mother when he was very young, 1837 seems the more reasonable date.
