     Archie Himes Coleman was born on 24 February 1902 at Galt, Waterloo County, Ontario.1 He was the son of Alven Coleman and Lavinia Emma Himes.1 He married Eleanor Harvie Buchanan on 16 October 1937 at Wesley United Church, Galt, Waterloo County, Ontario. (notes: According to the marriage book for Wesley United Church, Galt, to be found at the United Church Archives in Toronto, the license number fortheir marriage was J28404. The witnesses were Florence H. Goudy and H.B. Coleman.).1 He died on 20 April 1966 at Galt, Waterloo County, Ontario, at age 64.1 He was buried at Mountview Cemetery, Galt, Waterloo County, Ontario.1 Dad's birth registration is 043361-02. He was delivered by Dr. J.S. Wardlaw. His father is said to be a painter, which I understand grandfather was before becoming a barber.

Dad began his working life with the CNR working in the freight officein Galt at the station on Concession Street. He worked with the CNR in Windsor and then left the railway and went to work for General Motors at Pontiac. He was there when the stock market collapsed in 1929, his bank failed and he had to wire for money to get home. He was out ofwork for much of the depression, but finally got a job as book keeperat Canada Machinery in Galt where he spent the rest of his working life.1
