Daniel Vrooman was born in March 1829 at Harrisburg, Brant County, Ontario.1 He was the son of Admiral Nelson Vrooman and Rachel Coleman.1 He married Elizabeth Haines.1 He died on 21 May 1895 at Windsor, Ontario, at age 66.1 Daniel's death registration is 005102-95. He died in Windsor, Ontario, and, according to 'remarks', apparently at 90 Pitt Street. He died of broncho pneumonia. He place of birth is given as Harrisburg. He wassaid to be a carpenter. The only informant seems to have been the doctor, a Dr. Johnston. There is no other information that might link himto Windsor people. His wife should have still been living and her death registration might be more informative.
At this point, my information for the names of Daniel's children comes from the 1871 census. The handwriting seems clear enough for the names, but the figures are a bit spidery. All birth years are subject toconfirmation.
At the time of the 1871 census, Daniel is said to be a hotelkeeper. Since Harrisburg was a rail junction, this makes some sense.
At the time of the 1881 census, the family was obviously in Algoma. They appear as follows:
