Theresa Vrooman was born on 16 March 1839 at Dumfries Twp, Gore District, Canada West.1 She was the daughter of Admiral Nelson Vrooman and Rachel Coleman.1 She married Thomas R. Galer on 1 November 1866 at South Dumfries Twp, Brant County, Ontario. (notes: Brant County Marriage Register:

Thomas R. Galer, 26, born and residing Caledonia, s/o Robert & Sarah, married 1 Nov 1866 Terrisa Vrooman, 24, residing Harrisburg, born Dumfries, d/o Nelson and Rachel.).1
From Brant County marriages:
Galer, Thomas R., 26, Caledonia, Caledonia, s/o Robert and Sarah
married Nov 1, 1866, Terrisa Vrooman, 24, Harrisburg, Dumfries, d/o Nelson and Rachel.

Terissa, or Theresa, or Trissa, or Terrisa, has a different spelling given in almost every record of her to be found. I suspect that something like Terissa is closer to it. It is likely from the records that the pronunciation was closer to Trissa.

She is with her husband in Guelph at the time of the 1881 census when he, with her brother in law George Bookless, were proprietors of the Royal Hotel in Guelph. I have not found them again in Canadian records, but Trissa shows up in Richmond, New York City, living with her daughter Leah and son in law James Kerr. She has only just arrived in the U.S. that year. In the 1910 census her husband Thomas is with the family as well.

In the 1910 census the family was in Queens, New York City. That is the last record I have been able to find of the family.1
