Grandson of Catherine Jones.
Descendants of Catherine Jones & William Coleman
Leonard Dodge was born in March 1842 at Illinois.1 He was the son of Leonard Pulsepher Dodge and Mary Coleman.1 He married Eunice Bishop on 27 December 1864 at Ancaster Twp, Wentworth County, Ontario. (notes: The marriage record is from the county marriage record book. The witnesses were N. Misner and M. Dodge. This latter was likely the groom's sister Melissa.

Page 137 from the Wentworth Marriage Register(see MS248 reel 17) shows the marriage was performed by Rev. G. Hunt of the Methodist Episcopal Church, apparently in Beverly, on December 14, 1864. Leonard's birth place is shown as Illinois. His parents are shown as L.P. and Mary.Eunice Bishop is shown as being born in ancaster and her parents are John and Mary. The witnesses were N. Misner and M. Dodge. It would be tempting to believe that M. Dodge was his brother Myron, until it is realized that Myron would have been about six years old at the time. This M. Dodge may have been a son of Rufus Dodge.).1
He died in 1909.1 He was buried at Wildwood Cemetery, Chesaning Twp, Michigan.1 It would appear from the death notice of Leonard's son William in 1947 that there was a sister Helen J. who married a William Fotheringham. I do not as yet have her included in the list of children. It may be that she is there under another given name. This awaits further research.

From the marriage record of Leonard Dodge Jr., it would appear that the family was still in Beverly Township as late as 1864. They must have moved to Chesaning, Michigan, fairly soon thereafter.1
