| Note | She The transcription of St. George Cemetery in South Dumfries Township of Brant County, as provided by the Brant County branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society, shows Huldah's stone as follows: In memory of Huldah M. Wait who departed this life July 30, 1834 aged 21 yrs 3 mos who was member of the Methodist Church. The History of the People of Troy, 1947, shows Huldah as a daughter of Jonathan Wait and a sister to Jeremiah. Her stone is in Section A, Row 17, stone 9 of the cemetery. This is next to stone 10 for Jeremiah Wait and his family. We may note recorded on Jeremiah's stone a daughter by the name of Huldah who was born in 1839. Stone 11 is unreadable at the time of transcription. Then stones 12 through 22 are all Wait stones. Huldah's is obviously an early death, but some arrangement was evidently made to treat this portion of the cemetery as an extended Wait plot. It is believed that Huldah died in the cholera epidemic of 1834. |
