|Note||Information for Lawrence's birth is taken from the 1881 census at Chatham.|
It seems likely that the Lawrence Evans, born Canada, who appears in the 1920 census in Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri, as a boarder in the home of Walter Stid, is our Lawrence. His year of immigration is shown as 1881, though his age suggests that he was born in 1882. He does give his mother's place of birth as New Hampshire. Interestingly, he gives his father's place of birth as Michigan. This doesn't seem likely, for Israel and Minerva Evans maintained a livery stable in Chatham for many years and all their children appear to have been born in Chatham.
