Smith of South Dumfries. On 18 March, 1858 Typically, the county marriage registrations do not provide us with the exact location of the marriage. The best we may say of the Willett-Buchanan marriage is that it was registered with the Brant County registrar. And perhaps it was actually held there, at, say St.George in South Dumfries. It's also possible that Rev. Smith married the couple at the bride's parents' home, which was in North Dumfries of Waterloo County, but submitted the record to the Brant County registrar at Brantford. |

| Note | She Harriet and Arthur are in North Dumfries at the time of the 1861 census living with or next to her father, William Buchanan. Jane and Enos are present and it would be tempting to think that they were born in North Dumfries. Jane's marriage registration, however, places her birth in Bryanston, Ontario, which is in Middlesex County, north of London. Where Enos was born isn't known at this point. The family is in Plympton Township of Lambton County at the time of the 1871 census. Harriet and Arthur are to be found in the 1881 census at Mountain, Marquette, Manitoba. The initial list of their children is taken from this census and the approximate birth years based on the given ages. Harriett's birth date is taken from the 1901 census at MacDonald, Manitoba. Her death date is taken from an online Government of Manitoba index. |
