A Scott family descendant has a funeral card for Mary. It clearly states that she died at her father's home in Galt, that the funeral was held there, and that her body was then transported by train to Alliston for burial. It would appear that Robert realized registering her death hadn't been done in Galt and he informed the clerk in Alliston some months later.

The story in the Dumfries Weekly Reformer is at some variance and is precised below:

Mary had travelled from Alliston to visit with her parents on the Monday before Christmas, according to the Dumfries Weekly Reformer issue of Jan. 3, 1895. On the following Wednesday, the story goes on to say, she took ill and died suddenly. The funeral was at her parents home. She was then taken to Galt and was transported by train to Alliston where she was buried in Union Cemetery. The story relates that Mary had two sisters and one brother at home and a brother who was a practising physician in Chicago. The accords with such information as we have available.

Finally, a death registration has been found locating Mary's death in South Dumfries Township.

Death reg. 001748-95 South Dumfries Township, Brant Co.
Mary Scott died December 31st, 1894. Age 32. Presbyterian Farmer's wife.
Physician and informant Dr. J. Main, South Dumfries.

Mary's parents, Hugh and Janet White, were in South Dumfries at the time of the 1891 and 1901 censuses, so it does appear that Mary died in South Dumfries.
