| Note | He Death reg. 001257-79 South Dumfries, Brant Co. Harold McKenzie died March 15th, 1879. Farmer's son. Age 15 months. Born Prince Edward Island. Physician Dr. Smith. Informant James McKenzie, farmer, South Dumfries. A Prince Edward Island birth record for Harold has not been found. It's possible that his birth was in Prince Edward County in Ontario and there was a misinterpretation of the handwriting, but, again, no record for such has been found. With the information at hand, it appears as though William and Amy spent at least some time in Prince Edward Island. However, with his birth in P.E.I. one year and his death in Ontario the next, this is probably subject to correction. William McKenzie and Amy Elizabeth Jones married at Doon, probably at the bride's family home, by a Methodist minister. The bride's parents were Methodists. There is some evidence that they later went to First Presbyterian Church at Galt and son Norman was baptised there. The problem with First Church baptisms as they appear on the pages of the baptism book is that they seemed to have been entered in a very occasional fashion. There are great gaps in the entries and nothing appears for Harold. |
