| Note | She The 1871 census in North Dumfries shows a son James born in 1870. The evidence found so far seems to indicate that this is an enumerator's error. She seems to have been Joanna and some records have her as Johanna and as Josie. She has Josie on her stone at Mountview. Her birth registration, however, has her as Joanna. Birth reg. 005493-70 North Dumfries, Waterloo Co. Joanna Harvey born 18 February 1870. Parents David Harvey, farmer, and Mary Ann Oliver. Informant John Harvey, farmer, North Dumfries. Physician Dr. Lundy of Beverly. Death reg. 029571-06 Galt, Waterloo Co. Josie Harvey died February 14, 1906. Occupation unable to work. Born Canada. Presbyterian. Cause of death ascending myilitis 16 years. Physician and informant Dr. A. Hawk Josie is buried with her parents in their plot in section 2 of Mountview Cemetery in Galt. Mary Fraser Harvie's name is inscribed with Josie's on the same side of the stone. It seems a rather small thing to mention in the face of a tragic loss such as Josie's, but Harvie family members have mentioned over the years putting up with the misspelling of their name with a bit of resignation. We may report that the spelling of Josie's surname on the family gravestone is correct. |
