NoteHe We take James Bertram Job's place of birth from the FreeBMD index which shows that he was born in the second quarter of 1876 at Bury in Lancashire. The 1881 census in East Flamborough Township places James' birth in England, though he is still quite young.

According to the 1910 census at Morenci, Arizona, James was born in Canada and his parents were both born in England. This is incorrect.

The family of a John and Margaret 'Joab' reside in Flamboro East Township at the time of the 1881 census where they farm. Their son James Joab, age 4, is the youngest in the family and this would place his birth to 1877. Margaret is shown as being born in England as well as all of her children, James included.

We are better informed by the 1891 census, again in Flamboro East Township. This places John Job's birth in New Fld (Newfoundland?) and his wife Margaret's birth in England. Here, James is shown as James B. Job, age 14, and, again, shows his birth in England. At this point, he has a younger sister Helen, age 6, and she is shown as being born in Ontario.

If the 1910 census in Morenci, Arizona, mentioned above, is indeed correct then we may only say that no Ontario birth registration has been found. The 1881 and 1891 censuses, however, make it clear enough that James was born in England.

The 1910 census goes on to say that he is an engineer with a mining company.

The family is still in Morenci in 1920, but by 1930 they are in Tulare, California. They are shown as fruit farmers. The 1930 census unquestionably shows James' father as being born in Newfoundland.

Find-a-Grave shows James Bertram Job in Home of Peace Cemetery, Porterville, Tulare County, California, and dates his death to June of 1932. At present there is no photo of a stone.
