Hyndman, John born Ireland February 1, 1833, came to Canada with his parents in 1837, settling in Sherbrooke, Quebec. In 1860, received on trial as a canadidate for the Wesleyan Methodist ministry and travelled the L'Orignal, Plantagent and Berlin circuits. During his 4th year at Victoria College his health broke down and forced him to give up travelling. He died recently (place not given) and his memory was honored in Thornbury and Durham, 'where he spent the best years of his life.'

Eliza is widowed by the 1871 census, living with her daughters Margaret and Effie Hyndman and her mother Teressa Wait. It would appear that John Hyndman died in late 1869.
Since Eliza's father, Samuel Wait, died in Durham in 1866, it would appear that he had gone there in the last days of his failing health. It may be that John Hyndman died at Durham as well.
