John Armstrong was born on 5 June 1836 at Kilmore, Co Fermanagh, Ireland.1 He married Phedora Wait, daughter of Samuel Wait and Teressa M. Coleman, on 26 July 1865 at Beverly Twp, Wentworth County, Ontario.1 He died on 11 October 1910 at Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, at age 74.1 He was buried on 17 October 1910 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.1
