Harry Douglas Moe was born on 22 May 1894 at Aylmer, Ontario.1 He was the son of James Henry Moe and Minerva House.1 He married Laura A. Ward.1 He died on 29 September 1954 at Galt, Waterloo County, Ontario, at age 60.1 He was buried at Mountview Cemetery, Galt, Waterloo County, Ontario.1 There is a grave at Mountview Cemetery in Galt which I am ascribing to Harry. It gives D. as his middle initial, but it also gives his birth as May 22, 1894, so he must be the same person. His wife's birth ismentioned on the stone, but there is no death date for her. At age 51, she may well have remarried.
The grave is listed in the transcription printout as 35E-61-1

Also at Mountview Cemetery is listed a burial card for a Laura Diefenbaker, previously Moe, 25 June 1986. There is no other connection for this Laura other than the Moe name, which isn't common. This will require more research.

A look at a Galt City Directory, pre 1954, or Cambridge pre 1986, might be useful.

At the Toronto Reference Library today, I checked Galt City Directories. In 1944, Harry D. Moe (Laura A.) is a salesman for Mammy's Bread,a firm I can just recall. The Moes lived at 80 Elgin Street in the 1944 directory as well as the 1950 and 1954 directories. In 1956, Laura is at the same address as widow of Harry. In the 1962 directory, Laura is at 40 Elgin St. North with James Moe, a student.

In 1968, the Galt City Directory shows an Owen Diefenbacher (Laura) at 40 Elgin St. North. This is the same for the 1975 directory.

It would appear that Laura remarried.

Harry's obituary in the Galt Reporter on September 29, 1954, says that he was a janitor at the Palace Theatre and that he was born in Aylmer. He lived in California and Pittsburg prior to coming to Galt. He served with the U.S. Army during the war of 1914-18. He was a member ofLincoln Avenue United Church. He had one son, James Edward Moe of Galt and a brother Charles Moe of Keswick.1
