Emma Church was born on 17 July 1853 at England.1 She was the daughter of William Church and Sarah Davey.1 She married Peter Templar on 27 December 1876 at Ancaster Twp, Wentworth County, Ontario. Emma and Peter were married in Ancaster in 1876 and resident there. By 1881, they are in Dunwich Twp. in Elgin County, perhaps having made the move with Emma's family.

In the 1881 census at Dunwich Township, Peter and Emma have a daughter Sarah age 2 with them. Her birth year would be 1879. In the 1901 census they have a daughter Maud with them, born May 10, 1879. This is likely one and the same person and the implication then is that her name was something like Sarah Maud.1
