Peter Templar1

     Peter Templar was born on 25 December 1848 at Ancaster Twp, Wentworth County, Ontario.1 He married Emma Church, daughter of William Church and Sarah Davey, on 27 December 1876 at Ancaster Twp, Wentworth County, Ontario. (notes: 012142-76 Peter Templer, age 26, born and residing Ancaster, son of Jesse and Caroline Templer, married Emma Church, age 23, residing Ancaster, born England, daughter of William and Sarah Church, witnesses William Templer and Amelia Church, both of Ancaster. Both are described as members of the Methodist Church of Canada. Married by D.M. McKenzie.

He died on 20 April 1914 at Iona, Dunwich Twp, Elgin County, Ontario, at age 65.1 He was buried at Iona Cemetery, Southwold Twp, Elgin County, Ontario.1 Peter's birthdate and that of Emma and their daughter Maud are from the 1901 census. Peter's mother, Caroline, is with them. She is said tohave been born on May 28, 1819. They are all said to have been born in Ontario.

At the time of the 1881 census taken at Dunwich Township in Elgin County, the Templars are with a William Drummond, farmer.

Peter's death registration is 011578-14. His parents are named as Jesse Templar and Caroline Irwin.

Peter's burial information is taken from an online transcription for Iona Cemetery. A death notice for Emma states that she was buried at Iona Cemetery. There is no indication of this on the transcription, butit is stated that the stone is broken.1
