     Effie Sophia Moe was born on 23 August 1870 at Townsend Twp, Norfolk County, Ontario.1 She was the daughter of John Wesley Moe and Sophia Augusta Lawrason.1 She died in 1947.1 She was buried at St. George Cemetery, South Dumfries Twp, Brant County, Ontario.1 Birth reg. 008553-70 Townsend Twp., Norfolk Co. 23 August 1870, EffieMoe d/o John Wesley Moe and Sophia Lawrason.

Effie Sophia appears in the 1901 Census as a teacher living in Brantford. She is listed on line two of Brantford City A8, Page 16 of Brant South. She is shown as a boarder and, looking back to the previous page, it appears she is boarding at the YWCA.

Effie had a very long association with the YWCA, for in 1923 she was the superintendent of the residence department according to an articlerun in a Brantford newspaper on December 22. There is a photo of her with the article as well.

According to a Hamilton City Directory of 1930, Effie was superintendent of the YWCA in Hamilton that year.

At the time of the 1891 census, Effie is living with her brother Charles in Brantford. See T-6326, B3, page 23.1
