     Mary Ann Hamilton was born on 4 May 1869 at South Crosby Twp, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario.1 She has also been reported to have been born on 4 May 1868.2 She was the daughter of Charles Hamilton and Mary Jordan.1 She was baptized on 6 June 1869 at St Edward the Confessor Church, Westport, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario.1 She appeared on the 1871 Census of Crosby South, Leeds South, Ontario, in the household of Charles Hamilton.3 She appeared on the 1881 Census of Crosby South, Leeds South, Ontario, in the household of Charles Hamilton.4 She married James Joseph Doyle, son of Michael Doyle and Elizabeth Mary Dunn, on 4 November 1889 at St Philip Neri Church, Toledo, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario.5,6 On 16 Feb 1891, Mary Ann wrote a letter to her sister-in-law Frances Doyle in Jones Falls, Ontario describing events in New Westminster, BC.
