      John Kenneth Hamilton was born on 11 October 1863 at South Crosby Twp, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario.1,2,3,4 He was the son of Charles Hamilton and Mary Jordan.5 He immigrated in 1886 to Langdon, Cavalier County, North Dakota.1,4 John returned to Ontario in 1890 where he married Elizabeth F Burns, daughter of John Burns and Lydia Nolan, on 12 February 1890 at St Philip Neri Church, Toledo, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario.6,7 After their marriage they returned to John's farm near Langdon. He was granted the southwest quarter of section eleven in township one hundred and sixty one north of range 60 west of the fifth principal meridian in North Dakota, containing 160 acres, 28 August 1893. He was the County Auditor for Cavalier County, North Dakota, from 1908 to 1914, after which he worked in the county auditor's office until his last illness.1,8 He was the County Treasurer for Cavalier County, North Dakota, in 1920.9 In August 1939, John and Elizabeth celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary a few months early, with their entire family in attendance, at Langdon. He died on 13 July 1942 at Langdon at age 78.5,1,2
