Descendants of John Hamilton (1797-1871)
      John Regan was probably born on 19 May 1815 at Newtownbarry, St Mary's Newtownbarry, Co Wexford, Ireland. The 1901 census give his birthdate as 12 June 1821; the 1911 census says May 1817.1,2,3 He was the son of Bernard Regan and Bridget Jordan.1 John Regan was known to his family as PaDaddy. He immigrated in 1848 to Canada.4 He married Mary Hamilton, daughter of John Hamilton and Rose McCarney, on 19 July 1856 at St Edward the Confessor Church, Westport, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario.1,5 In 1893 John built a new frame house on the homestead at Lake Opinicon. He died on 16 May 1914 at South Crosby Twp, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario, at age 98.6,7 He was buried at Philipsville Catholic Cemetery, Philipsville, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario.8
