     John Patrick Murphy was born on 13 January 1847.1 He was the son of Thomas Murphy and Mary Dougherty.2,3 He married Bridget Catherine Regan, daughter of John Regan and Mary Hamilton, on 16 April 1883 in St Mary's Cathedral, Kingston, Frontenac County, Ontario.3 He was left a widower when Bridget Catherine Regan died on 16 April 1894.4 He died on 3 April 1910 of tuberculosis of the throat in Front of Leeds and Lansdowne Twp, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario, at age 63.1 He was buried in St Barnaby's Cemetery, Brewer's Mills, Frontenac County, OntarioG.5

Research Note: There is another John Murphy with wife Bridget and 3 children on the 1891 census of Pittsburgh, Frontenac County. On first glance, this would appear to be "our" John Murphy who lived in Pittsburgh when he married Bridget Regan. However, by 1901 this John Murphy has apparently died as his children are listed with Patrick & Bridget Joice, whereas "our" John Murphy outlived Bridget and is shown with his children and his father Thomas (also named on the marriage record) on the 1901 census.
