     Joseph Herman Tobin was born on 29 August 1898.1 He was the son of James Tobin and Rose Jordan.1 He was baptized on 11 September 1898 in St Edward the Confessor Church, Westport, Leeds & Grenville County, OntarioG; he was baptized sub conditione which might indicate that he had been privately baptized shortly after birth because he was not expected to survive.1
