     Michael Doyle was born about 1823 at Ballindaggan, Templeshanbo, Co Wexford, Ireland.2,3,4,5,1 He was the son of James Doyle and Ellen Burn.1 He immigrated before 1851 to Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario. It is likely that he immigrated in 1847/48 during the potato famine in Ireland. Neither the exact date nor the name of the ship he arrived on have been determined. In 1848 the average length of a voyage between Ireland and Quebec was 43 days.6 He appeared on the 1851 Census of South Crosby Twp, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario.2 He married Elizabeth Mary Dunn, daughter of Martin Dunn and Sarah Keating, on 20 February 1855 at St Edward the Confessor Church, Westport, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario.7,1 He lived at Lot 8 Con 5, South Crosby Twp, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario, in 1858.8 He was a Lock Laborer at Jones Falls, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario, in 1861.3 He and Elizabeth Mary Dunn appeared on the 1861 Census of South Crosby Twp, Leeds County, Ontario.3 He was a farmer in 1871.4 He and Elizabeth Mary Dunn appeared on the 1871 Census of South Crosby Twp, Leeds County, Ontario.4 He lived at Lot 7 Con 5 (20 acres W of Jones Falls Road), South Crosby Twp, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario, in 1874.8 He left a will on 27 July 1878.9 He was illiterate as evidenced by his will signed with "X his mark".9 He died on 12 August 1878 at South Crosby Twp, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario.10,5 He was buried on 14 August 1878 at Philipsville Catholic Cemetery, Philipsville, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario.11,12 His estate was not probated until 13 June 1894. The reason for this delay is not known.10
