Charles Michael Doyle

      Charles Michael Doyle was born on 13 November 1892 at New Westminster, British Columbia.^3,4 He was the son of James Joseph Doyle and Mary Ann Hamilton.^1,2,3 He was baptized about December 1892 at St Peter's Church, New Westminster, British Columbia. His godparents were James Hamilton and Maria Caroline Eic(k)hof.³ He appeared on the 1901 Census of New Westminster, British Columbia, in the household of James Joseph Doyle and Mary Ann Hamilton.⁵ He appeared on the 1911 Census of New Westminster, British Columbia, in the household of James Joseph Doyle and Mary Ann Hamilton.⁶ He lived at 512 Kelly Street, New Westminster, British Columbia, in 1917.⁷ He married first Ethel Cecilia Leer on 6 April 1918 at New Westminster, British Columbia.^8,9,10

Charles enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 5 December 1917.⁷ He was sent to England with the 68th Depot Battery CFA, CEF on 17 Apr 1918 aboard the SS Scotian. He arrived on 28 Apr and was stationed at Witley. Charles returned to Canada in Sep 1919 and was discharged, with the rank of Gunner, on 20 Sep 1919.

He lived at 448 Kelly Street, New Westminster, British Columbia, after his discharge.⁷ He was a Plumber and a Maintenance Superintendant at Woodlands (The Provincial Hospital for the Insane - also known as "No. 9" for its address on Columbia St.) after October 1919. He and Ethel Cecilia Leer were divorced before December 1921. Both Charles and Ethel remarried in December 1921. He married second Gertrude Louise Falk, daughter of (--?--) Naas and Louise (--?--), on 3 December 1921 at New Westminster, British Columbia.¹¹ He and Gertrude Louise Falk lived at 337 Holt Street, New Westminster, British Columbia.¹² He and Gertrude Louise Falk Gertrude's biological sister Ellen Gertrude Ness (Naas) married Charles' brother Joseph Gordon Doyle. He witnessed the marriage of Joseph Gordon Doyle and Ellen Gertrude Naas on 18 May 1927 at St Peter's Rectory, New Westminster, British Columbia.¹³ He and Gertrude Louise Falk lived at 44 Leopold Place, New Westminster, British Columbia, about 1940.¹⁴ He and Gertrude Louise Falk lived at 48 Leopold Place, New Westminster, British Columbia, about 1947.¹⁵ For many years, Charles bred hunting dogs - usually black labradors. In the late 1940's he had an Irish setter named Casey. He died on 22 September 1968 of a stroke at Queen's Park Convalescent Home, New Westminster, British Columbia, at age 75.² He was buried on 25 September 1968 at St Peter's Cemetery, New Westminster, British Columbia.²
