Harriet Coleman was born on 15 April 1845 in Beverly Twp, Wentworth County, Ontario.1 She was the daughter of Daniel Coleman and Mary Abel.1 She married Matthew Nisbet on 9 March 1869.1 She died on 18 June 1927 in California at age 82.2
The April 20, 1925, edition of the Oakland Tribune carried an article relating to the 80th birthday celebration of Harriet and includes her photo. It was held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. H. McGary ( Myrtle Viola Nisbet) at 5756 Shafter Avenue. Present at the celebration is Harriet's daughter, Jessie Nisbet.1
