Mary Ann Jones was born on 16 January 1818 at Troy, Beverly Twp, Wentworth County, Ontario.1,2 She was the daughter of James Jones and Hannah Goodale. She married Rufus Dodge on 26 February 1835. Rufus' obituary says they were married on 20 Feb 1835.1,2 She and Rufus Dodge moved to Brady Twp, Shiawassee County, Michigan, in 1863.1 In 1865 Mary Ann Jones and Rufus Dodge moved to a farm near Chesaning, Saginaw County, Michigan.1 She died on 14 May 1889 at Chesaning, Saginaw County, Michigan, at age 71.1,3 She was buried at Wildwood Cemetery, Chesaning, Saginaw County, Michigan.4
Mary's exact place of birth isn't known. Almost certainly it will have been either Ancaster or Beverly Township.
Mary's stone in the cemetery at Chesaning shows her birth year as 1820. The 1861 census taken at Brantford confirms her birth year as closer to 1818 and that is used here.2
