Abel L Jones was born on 31 January 1837 at Beverly Twp, Wentworth County, Ontario.1,2 He was the son of James Jones and Hannah Goodale. He married Martha Bishop on 25 December 1865 at Lynden, Wentworth County, Ontario.3,2 He died on 14 October 1906 at Dundas, Wentworth County, Ontario, at age 69.1 He was buried at Troy Cemetery, Beverly Twp, Wentworth County, Ontario.1

Abel Jones' obituary appeared in an unknown newspaper on 21 Oct 1906:
OBITUARY -- ABEL JONES The death of Abel Jones on October 14, 1906; whose wife predeceased him about a week ago, on October 4th; occurred at the residence of his son, Melvin Jones, Dundas, Ontario. He was in his 70th year, and had been a sufferer for about three years. He leaves to mourn his loss four sons, Melvin, Dundas, Oliver, Smithville, Ontario, Emerald, Guelph, Ontario, Roland, Toronto, Ontario, and Mrs. Kellar, Hamilton, Ontario. The funeral will take place Wednesday at 8:30 from the residence of his son, in Dundas, to Lynden Church for service, then to Troy cemetary for internment.2
