      Orville Roland Broder was born on 3 September 1895 at Washington.2 He was the son of John Broder and Alice Mary Graves.2 He registered for the draft on 19 September 1917 at Bellingham, Whatcom County, Washington; he claimed exemption because of a dependent mother. He died on 4 November 1918 of influenza, during the "Spanish Flu" pandemic, at Seattle, King County, Washington, at age 23.2,3

Orville's obituary in the The Seattle Daily Times on 5 November 1918 read:
"ORVILLE BRODER aged 23 yrs beloved brother of Harold Broder - College Place WA. Body at private reception room Butterworth & Sons. Announcement later."
And on 6 Nov: "Private service for Orville Broder of 1531 Summit Ave will be held tomorrow morning. Broder was born in LaConner 23 yrs ago. He is survived by his parents Mr & Mrs John Broder & 1 brother Harold."3

An obituary also appeared in the North Pacific Union Gleaner on 5 Dec 1918.

He was buried at Washelli Cemetery, Seattle, King County, Washington.4,3
