      Orville Roland Broder was born on 4 September 1895 in La Conner, Skagit County, Washington.2 He was the son of John Broder and Alice Mary Graves.3 He registered for the draft on 19 September 1917 in Bellingham, Whatcom County, Washington; he claimed exemption because of a dependent mother. He died on 4 November 1918 of influenza, during the "Spanish Flu" pandemic, in Seattle, King County, Washington, at age 23.3,2

Orville's obituary in the The Seattle Daily Times on 5 November 1918 read:
"ORVILLE BRODER aged 23 yrs beloved brother of Harold Broder - College Place WA. Body at private reception room Butterworth & Sons. Announcement later."
And on 6 Nov: "Private service for Orville Broder of 1531 Summit Ave will be held tomorrow morning. Broder was born in LaConner 23 yrs ago. He is survived by his parents Mr & Mrs John Broder & 1 brother Harold."2

An obituary also appeared in the North Pacific Union Gleaner on 5 Dec 1918.

He was buried in Washelli Cemetery, Seattle, King County, Washington.2,4
