Curtis Andrew West was born on 15 August 1889 in Pleasant Grove, Utah County, Utah. He was the son of Joseph Thomas West and Ane Hansen. He married Iona Larson, daughter of John Peter Larson and Sarah Alice Clements, on 15 September 1908 in Raymond, Alberta. He died on 21 September 1959 in Raymond, Alberta, at age 70.
