     Joshua Challis Hall was born on 17 March 1849 in Big Pigeon River, Pottawattamie County, Iowa. He was the son of Joshua Challis Hall and Sally Ann Bybee. He married Lola Ann Elmer on 23 November 1872. He died on 13 December 1933 in Vernal, Uintah County, Utah, at age 84.1
