     Ernest Lloyd Broder was born on 23 November 1921 in Unalaska, Alaska.1,2 He was the son of Harold Broder and Mabel Octella Hallberg.3 Ernest Lloyd Broder's birth name was Christopher Nicolas McGlashan.4 He and her brother Eldine McGlashan were adopted, probably unofficially, by Harold Broder and Mabel Octella Hallberg about 1930 in Alaska. Their biological father, Nicolas McGlashan, was first mate on a king crab fishing boat when their mother died. Being unable to care for them, Nicolas adopted them out with the stipulation that he could see them at any time.4 Christopher's name was changed to Ernest because Mabel wanted him to be ernest in the Lord.4 He married Anita M Hamlin on 3 June 1945 in Milwaukie, Clackamas County, Oregon.5 He lived in Bremerton, Kitsap County, Washington, between 1946 and 1947.6 He and his family moved to Juneau, Alaska, in 1950.7 He lived in Ketchikan, Alaska, in 1952.8 He was ordained by the Seventh Day Adventist Church in 1952 in Alaska.9 He lived in Hawaii in 1955.10 By 1956 Ernest Lloyd Broder was living in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.11 He moved to St Helens, Columbia County, Oregon, in 1958.12 Then, in 1960 Ernest moved to Silverton, Marion County, Oregon.13 In 1973 Ernest moved to Reno, Washoe County, Nevada.14 He died on 26 November 1979 in Loma Linda, San Bernardino County, California, at age 58.2,1,15,3

Ernest's obituary in the The Adventist Review, Washington, DC, on 20 March 1980 read:
"Broder, Ernest L. - b. Nov 23, 1921, Urialaska [sic], Alaska; d. Nov 26, 1979, Loma Linda, Calif. He served the denomination as a pastor/singing evangelist and as MV and educational secretary for 33 1/2 years. Survivors include his wife Bernice; two daughters Paula Quade and Pamela Pool; three sons, Steve, Dave and John; his mother, Mrs Mabel Broder; and two grandchildren."2

He was buried in Montecito Memorial Park, Colton, San Bernardino County, CaliforniaG.16
