Vermicie's pension petition states that Margaret Amelia married Henry Laverty before her 14th birth at Beatrice (the county seat of Gage County, Nebraska), before her 14th birth. She says that not long after, the Lavertys moved to Red Cloud, Nebraska, and that she never heard from Margaret after that. A

NoteShe The 1880 census at Elm Creek Precinct, Webster County, Nebraska, shows three children (ages 6, 4, and 2) with Henry and Margaret. Rosetta J. Laverty, Alice Laverty, and William H. Laverty, all born in Nebraska.

According to records of the Good Templars Orphan Asylum at Vallejo, California, all four children of Margaret and Henry were admitted to the orphanage on August 27, 1885. The record states that the children were all born in Bartow, Nebraska; that their parents were married in Beatrice, Nebraska; that their parents (both, apparently) died in Anderson, California.

The children include daughter Aggie, age 4, and who will have been born in 1881 approximately. Rosetta is shown as age 13; Alice is shown as age 12; Willie is shown as age 7.
