Informant William Cottrill, labourer, East Flamboro. The 1881 census presents us with a son for William and Ellen named Edward, age 6; the 1891 census shows presumeably the same son as Edwin, age 16. It now appears that this is Matthew E., so named on his birth registration, but middle name not shown. Such later records as have been found suggest that Matthew E. Cottrill went through life known as Edward. |
