| Note | According to the La Crosse Tribune and Leader Press of November 24, 1917, Alice Cole married Louis Shaw on February 3, 1884. They were in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, at the time of the 1905 Wisconsin State census and her sister Margaret is with them. The newspaper article states that she died in the La Crosse Hospital on November 23, 1917, and that a funeral would be held in La Crosse on November 25th at 9AM. Her remains were then to be taken to Niagara Falls where another service, presumeably her burial service, would be held on November 27. A burial date of November 27th is confirmed by the Niagara Falls Cemeteries' web site and a photo of her gravestone is shown. The Niagara Falls Branch of the OGS has an index for Morse Funeral Homes which indicates that her burial was ordered by C.C. Cole. The inscription on her stone reads: Alice M. wife of Louis Shaw and daughter of Edwin & Margaret Cole 1862-1917 According to Drummond Hill Cemetery information as it appears on the web site, Alice is buried in the Cole family plot. Her name is inscribed on the back of her parents and siblings gravestone. |
