Mrge reg. 012033-91 Galt, Waterloo Co. William Edgar Demill, 22, bachelor, moulder, Methodist. Born Prince Edward Co., residing Galt. Parents Benjamin Demill and Fannie Snyder. Thirza Lavina Clark, 20, spinster, Methodist. Born England, residing Galt. Parents William Clark and Emma Matthewson. Witnesses Andrew Oliver and Katherine Clark. On 16 June, 1891, at Galt, by Rev. Andrew Cunningham. On the registration, the surname of the first witness is unreadable, but the church's record shows him to be Andrew Oliver. The clergyman's name appears on the registration as A. Cunningham. The church's record shows him as And'w Cunningham. We must believe his given name to be Andrew, though a church history dated 1979 as him as Alfred Cunningham. Since And'w is repeated numerous times on the page we must believe 'Andrew' to be correct. |

| Note | He The birthdates for William and Thirza and their childrens' names and dates are taken from the 1901 census - that or birth registrations. The census shows that the home was that of William and Thirza, but that William's parents and brother were living with them. They were: Benjamin Demill - June 18, 1842. Fannie A. Demill - July 24, 1846. Hartwell Demill - October 3, 1876. All three are said to have been born in Ontario. Benjamin is said to be a farmer and a Methodist. In the 1901 census, William's ethnic origin is given as German and his trade is that of moulder. He was born in Ontario. Here the spelling is also Demill. The name in the 1911 census is spelled Demille. In the marriage record at Ainslie Street Methodist Church in Galt, the name is spelled Demill. This seems to vary with different records. The marriage record from the church give his parents names as Benjamin Demill and Fannie Snider. The witnesses were Andrew Oliver and Katharine Clark. The minister was Andrew Cunningham and they were married by license. |
