| Note | As noted in the marriage registration for Miller and Elizabeth, Elizabeth's parents were Joel and Lavina Smith. It's evident from the 1851 and 1861 censuses in Blenheim Township that Elizabeth was the daughter of Joel and Lovina who, for those years, resided in Blenheim. As stated in the marriage registration, Elizabeth was born in Beverly Township.Joel and Lavina, or Lovina, are buried in Windfall Cemetery, near Drumbo, in Blenheim Township. Lovina's maiden name is shown as Wedge on her stone. Volume 9 of the Annals of the Forty, published by The Grimsby Historical Society, 1958, page 60, tells something of her background. Her parents were James and Susan Wedge. They had resided near the village of Sheffield and James' stone in Sheffield Cemetery has survived. The brief history mentioned for them places Susan's burial there was well, but a transcription done some 30 years ago does not show her grave. |
