Registered 28 December, 1869. At some level, there was still a county registration process in use at this time. The pages contain the names of different registrars, and, probably, they aren't all Blenheim Township, but Dr. Corson is clearing shown as being in Washington, a village in Blenheim, and since the family residence appears to have been in Blenheim at the time, Winfield's birth place is shown as such. Interestingly, Dr. Corson seems to have registered most of the births examined prior to the child being named and so the space for the name on the form is left blank. In the case of Winfield Scott Wait, a George Sherman Wait had his proper name entered on the form on the 30th of December, 1939. All that was done was to fill in the name of the children, which was previously blank. No explanation is offered. |
