Both bride and groom are described as Episcopal. Given family associations, this almost certainly means that they were Episcopal Methodist.

Ella, or Ellen, Dargie's parents were Alexander and Ellen Dargie, both born Scotland. They both appear in Beverly Township in the 1861 census. By 1872, Ellen is in South Dumfries Township, probably in the village of Harrisburg, with her children, including young Ellen. What became of Alexander Dargie isn't clear.

Ellen Dargie, the mother of Ella Dargie Gamble, died in 1888 and is buried in Harrisburg Cemetery.
