| Note | Birth reg. 001835-87 South Dumfries, Brant Co. Ellen Gertrude Muma born 25th February, 1887. Parents Alfred Muma and Victoria Coleman. Informant Alfred Muma, farmer, South Dumfies. Gertrude Muma is shown in the 1911 census at Hamilton as a nurse in a hospital. The census shows January of 1888 as a birth date. Border crossings from 1914 clearly identify her as a nurse and as the daughter of Alfred Muma of Saltburn, Saskatchewan. The 1921 census at Winnipeg shows her as a nurse. More information is to be found in the monthly journal of The Canadian Nurse, January 1930. Under marriages, page 151 reads as follows: McFayden - Muma On January 22nd, 1930, at Winnipeg, Ellen Gertrude Muma, (Hamilton General Hospital 1913) to Alexander McFayden, of Shoal Lake, Man. Unquote A Manitoba Vital Statistics web site has Alexander's full name as Alexander Stewart McFadyen, and is shown as such in this tree. No sure record of Alexander and Gertrude has been found for later years. |
