| Note | We have but little more than the transcription of the stone for the Smith J. Wait family in St. George Cemetery upon which to fall upon for evidence of Sophronia Doud's place in the family of Ira and Roxa Doud. The portion of the stone for Sophronia reads: Sophronia Doud beloved wife of Smith J. Wait died Oct 15, 1889 aged 68 yrs 1 mo. Beyond this, we may only state that Sophronia Doud Wait's sister Mary named a daughter Sophrona, per the 1861 census. It seems reasonable to include Sophronia among the children of Ira and Roxa. Death reg. 001648-89 South Dumfries Twp., Brant Co. Sophrona Wait died 17th October, 1889. Age 60 years. Methodist. Born New York State. Physician and informant W. Vardon M. D., of Galt. |
