The bride and groom were Methodists. Ellen's age as stated in her marriage registration is a bit light. |

Housewife, at place of death 24 years, in Ontario life. Parents Richard Clark and Margaret Harper, both born Ireland. Mrs. S.H. Hobson, Palmerston, daughter. Burial at Arthur, March 5, 1927. Date of death March 3, 1927. Ellen's father, shown as Richard Clark on the death registration, will be an error. Apparently her father, Robert, did have a brother Richard. The marriage registration of William and Ellen makes it clear enough that her father was Robert. Ellen's year of birth on the family gravestone is stated to be 1870. The 1871 and 1881 censuses make it rather more reasonable that she was born in 1869. Considering that Ellen's mother was said to be born in 1822, a birth year of 1869 still pushes the time frame for Margaret's child bearing years. Ellen's parents are buried in Greenfield Cemetery in Peel Township. Ellen and William are buried also in Greenfield Cemetery, but with William's parents. |
