| Note | John Harvie, year of birth approximately 1853, does not appear with John and Jessie at the time of the 1861 census. He is present with them at the time of the 1871 census, though, oddly, he is shown as being born in England. A correspondent has provided a typed copy of the will of John Harvie Sr. This includes no search information, but an available index shows the estate number as 4126. John Harvie Sr. died in 1905 and his son John is mentioned in his will and so, though earlier listings are a bit ambiguous, John Jr. is listed here. The information improves for John Harvie Jr. with the finding of his death registration. It reads: State of Michigan County and City Saginaw. John Harvie of 115 Brockway died Feby. 13, 1933. Widowed. His wife's name is given but is quite illegible. Date of birth July 12, 1853. Age 79 years, 7 months, and 1 day. Born Plattsville, Ont. Parents John Harvie, born Scotland, and Jessie Jamieson, born Scotland. Informant's last name is rather illegible, but was apparently the undertaker. Burial Feby 15, 1933, at Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum. That John Harvie Jr. was born in or about the Plattsville area - rather more likely in Blenheim Township - is possible, but not certain. (An available index for Oxford County wills shows the estate number for the will of John Harvie (Sr.) of Blenheim Township as 4126 and the index states his death to be 1905. The Archives of Ontario will likely have this available, though their index books should be consulted to find the correct microfilm.) |
