| Note | Daniel Ferguson's baptism is recorded in the First Church book of baptisms, which is to be found at the United Church of Canada Archives on microfilm LCM-30. Of some interest here is that Donald Ferguson, age 14, appears with his father Duncan and step-mother Margaret in the 1851 census in North Dumfries. This was enumerated in January of 1852 and the question was: What is your age as of your next birthday. Of course, we can't be sure that the question was either asked, or answered, in the correct manner, but it would imply a birth of 1837 or 1838 for Daniel. We must believe that Donald, so shown in 1852/52, is Daniel. |
