Death reg. 034218-16 North Dumfries, Waterloo Co.
Alexander Carrick, age 66, single, farmer, parents Alexander Carrick and Janet McBean. Died January 30, 1916. Born S.1.E., Con. 8, North Dumfries Twp. Died Sec. 3 East, Con. 7, North Dumfries. Informant G. Little (undertaker). Physician Dr. S. E. Charlton.

Alex's gravestone in section 3 of Mountview Cemetery shows him as being in his 66th year at the time of his death. This and census information makes an 1850 birth year seem at least possible, or 1851 at the latest. The death registration shows his place of birth as North Dumfries and in terms of concessions 7 or 8 this would be correct at the time of his death. The actual division of Dumfries of North and South Dumfries townships did not occur until January of 1852. The manner in which the lot numbers of birth and death are written is not at all clear.
