At the time of his mother's death in 1940, Jack was said to be a doctor in Franklin, New Jersey. He appears in the 1930 U.S. census in Franklin, New Jersey, as a roomer in a home of a widow. He is 31 and shown as a medical doctor. He is said to have come to the U.S. in 1924.

At age 26, on June 30, 1924, a border crossing card shows Fredrick J. Scott of Barrie, a doctor, crossing the border at Buffalo. He is destined for Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton, Pennsylvania. By the time of the 1930 census, he is at Franklin, New Jersey, and he may have remained there the rest of his life. His sister Jessie Roberta is recorded as paying at least three visits. On her last visit, the card indicates that she holds a resident alien card and with all these visits she is destined Franklin, New Jersey, to visit with her brother.
