ID # 4740, (1881-1978)
| Baptism | Margaret Preston Renwick was baptized on 11 December 1881 at North Dumfries Twp., Waterloo Co.. |
| Marriage | She married Robert J. Barrie, son of George Redpath Barrie and Mary Carrick, on 25 November 1914 at North Dumfries Township, Waterloo Co.. Mrge reg. 022382-14 North Dumfries, Waterloo Co. Robert J. Barrie, 32, bachelor, pattern maker. Presbyterian. Born Ontario, residing Galt. Parents Robert Barrie and Jane Grant. Margaret Preston Renwick, 32, spinster, Presbyterian. Born Ontario, residing Ayr. Parents James Renwick and Mary Patterson. Witnesses Will C. Barrie, Galt, and Jennie E. Renwick, Ayr. On 25th Nov 1914, at North Dumfries, Waterloo Co., by J. J. Brown of Ayr, Presbyterian. The registration shows Robert's mother as Jane Grant. We must believe this to be a clerical error for all reasonable record information shows her to be Mary Carrick. Past that, Robert and Margaret are buried in section 3 in Mountview Cemetery with other members of the George Redpath Barrie and Mary Carrick family. |
| Death | She died in 1978. |
| Burial | She was buried at Section 3, Mountview Cemetery, Cambridge, Ontario. |
| Note | Birth reg. 035228-82 North Dumfries Twp., Waterloo Co. Maggie Preston Renwick born 11 December 1881. Parents Walter Renwick, farmer, and Elizabeth Ellen Hall. Physician and informant was Dr. Lovett of Ayr. The registration was filed on 14th January, 1882, and hence is registered under the year of 1882. The marriage registration for Robert James Barrie and Margaret Preston Renwick presents problems. Robert's mother is named as Jane Grant. This is reasonably a clerical error, for his mother was Mary Carrick. Margaret's parents on the marriage registration are shown as James Renwick and Mary Patterson. (The name'Patterson' is ill-written, but is likely what was intended.) This becomes a problem when we note that her parents are shown on her birth registration as Walter Renwick and Elizabeth Ellen Hall. Clerical error? Background family story? Considering that Robert and Margaret are buried in the George Redpath Barrie and Mary Carrick plot at Mountview, we may say that we at least have the correct Barrie story. |
